Welcome to the St Paul Catholic School Volunteer Opportunities!! "Volunteer Calendar"
Our school relies on both the financial aid from our parents and our entire parish community to support our many activities, as well as their volunteer support in many areas on a daily and weekly basis. Each of these volunteer opportunities is important to keep the school functioning properly!

As a parent of a student enrolled at St. Paul it carries with it a responsibility to volunteer. There are many opportunities for parents and family members to share their time, skills, and resources to support the St. Paul School and we hope you will prayerfully consider the best place where you can support us.

The following list provides information about each of the possible volunteer opportunities.

Also, please check out our "Volunteer Calendar" to see which opportunities are still in need of your assistance.
Please click on the "ivolunteer" button to volunteer for an event.

Why does St. Paul have a Volunteer Program?
Studies have shown time and again that students are more successful when parents are actively involved in the school. When parents are involved, students receive a clear message that education is valued. Volunteers also help by keeping costs from spiraling out of control. Whether it's helping a child read or painting a door, a volunteer is doing important work that would otherwise cost the school money.

What are a parent's Volunteer Requirement?
Parents have a required thirty (30) hour volunteer program for all families during the school year. (15 hours for single parent households).

  Who can volunteer?
A St. Paul School volunteer is any person who gives freely of his or her time, skills, talents, and resources to contribute to the lives and education of St. Paul School students. Volunteers include parents, retirees, grandparents, or parishioners, as well as those who have a special talent or who can be a resource in a given area.

Working With Children
Volunteers are required to respect the rights of students and their families to privacy. A professional and caring manner in dealing with students, along with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality, is required of anyone who volunteers to work with children.

What is the Diocese of Raleigh Program for the Protection of Young People?
For our children's protection, the Diocese of Raleigh requires that all volunteers (as well as school employees) pass a criminal background investigation prior to having any contact with children in the school. This includes parents who wish to accompany children on field trips as well as those who serve as volunteer teachers, coaches or club leaders. Volunteers must also attend a "Safe Child Protection Class", complete a Criminal Background investigation results (which will be mailed to you) and sign an acknowledgement form (provided when you attend the Safe Child Protection Class).

All of these requirements must be met prior to your involvement in your child's school. NO EXCEPTIONS. For more information please check with the school office for the next scheduled Safe Child Protection Class or visit the Diocese of Raleigh website for more information: http://www.dioceseofraleigh.org/what/youth/index.aspx
